Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to stock up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck is available in quite a few models: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the correct storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This particular version consists of telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This particular version is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to operate and can maximize available storage space while increasing productivity.
