Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm which is located on a rotating turntable. Usually, telescoping boom lifts are utilized for tasks which require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other kinds of lifts. Like for instance, workers could perform exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but using these lifts instead of having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one individual. These buckets are more suited to particular jobs like for instance electrical repair, rather than window washing or general maintenance. These lifts come in electric and gas configurations and are offered with both indoor and outdoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Below the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machine gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. As these machines must be directly positioned under the work location, as opposed to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
The scissor lift normally has a larger platform which allows the operator to control the lift to access a larger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these models, because they must sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are ideal for being utilized for cladding or window installation, since they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a great alternative for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Bucket trucks, cherry pickers and boom trucks each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle utilized particularly for vertical work. Typically, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand as well as a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for raising the boom.
Boom trucks take workers to heights which would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to raise heavy materials or equipment from one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types which could perform a variety of purposes. Both of these different kinds of equipment excel at different jobs and are great for specific applications and accomplishing certain tasks.
