Forklift Tire Specs
Since 1917, important tools used within commercial businesses and industry are forklifts. During its history the forklift has changed through different forms, from a basic tractor with an attached platform to a specialized high-tech machinery. Forklift tires have also changed into specialized tires, with different kinds designed to suit particular applications.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is constructed of rubber or solid polyurethane and is best for indoor work on smooth surfaces. The cushion tire tread is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for different load capacities. Cushion tires are commonly used within warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Foam or air is used to fill pneumatic forklift tires. They come in two types: bias or radial. Depending upon the application, they come with various sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires which are filled with foam are less prone to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are usually utilized outdoors on surfaces which are rough and uneven.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride which pneumatic tires provide together with the puncture resistance which solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are a good alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Large rubber tires, which can either be solid, pneumatic or foam, are used on wheel loader forklifts. These types of tires are suitable for loading and moving heavy things onto trucks or into processing equipment. Large flotation pneumatic tires are suited for masted rough terrain forklifts normally utilized at lumberyards, construction sites and auto recyclers.
